John O Chewning will leave next week for New York City with a pavies in hand for a European journey. He sails on the steamer Philadelphia and aims for Southampton after a fourteen day voyage then returns via the Carpathia from Naples to Rockport around August 28. He intends to visit London Paris and Athens.
The Rockport high school held its thirty-third annual commencement at the Auditorium. The program featured student songs, a prayer by Rev. J H Diehl, remarks by Rev EF Boldrey on The Meliorist, and a benediction by Rev L N Varble. Twenty eight graduates included Elsie Atwood, Richard Atkinson, Frances Bauer, Agnes Beeler, and others.
Miss Margaret Gage daughter of Dr and Mrs L F Gage of Grandview and A H Richeson a traveling man for a New York house were married last Friday May 24 in Brazil Indiana. The couple eloped after she left Evansville for a music lesson and telegraphed the family when married. They traveled to Indianapolis then plan to New York for their home.
Miss Lena Kercheval attended the commencement exercises at Cannelton last Friday and, amid the ceremony, a marriage was announced as a surprise shortly after. The couple became known to attendees as they exchanged vows in a brief, private moment witnessed by family and friends.
Rockport lost a Sunday baseball game to Owensboro 4 to 2 amid four errors by Rockport and late misplays. Waters and Cary pitched for Rockport with Markham and Barron for Owensboro. Umpire Perkins oversaw the game at the county court house.
