Sheriff takes two men to Reformatory on larceny pleas

Sheriff Chapman escorted Burrel Baker and August Moredock to the Reformatory Thursday after both pleaded guilty to larceny. Baker admitted stealing chickens while Moredock took goods from Morris Gordon's eating house.

County pig club to organize with feeding project

County Agent H. D. Jackson announces a new pig club for boys aged 12 to 18. Participants select and raise pigs weighing 70 to 90 pounds, using home grown seeds, with premiums for top overall performance including market hog quality, production cost, daily gains, and records. The program runs from start to county fair in August 1919.

Short Horn Cattle Sale Set for Tulsa May 14

The Democrat reports a sale of short horn cattle in Tulsa Oklahoma on May 14. John T Kramer presents sixty head of registered stock including 14 bulls and 46 females with seventeen additional head offered by Kramer as sales manager. Four major sales in the circuit include Tulsa as a point.

O. E. S. Auxiliary Meeting Held at Kellams Home

The O. E. S. auxiliary met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. W. W. Kellams home with a hostess committee of Mesdames Kellams Fred Heuring Ben Huffman Bartley Ince and R. E. Roberts. After the business session a social hour followed with iced refreshments served.

Relatives report the death of John F Boehm at his Louisville home Monday evening after a brief illness. He is the twin brother of Martin Boehm of this city. Interment was held in Louisville Thursday morning.

Oil well north of town reaches depth of 950 feet

Report from the field states an oil well located north of town drilled to 950 feet hitting oil sand in abundance. The find is described as promising with strong production potential and local excitement. No injuries reported.

Oil and gas leases rise in Ohio townships record

Recorder Walter Ayer reports sixty leases recorded in the past week and 110 since April 1 all in Ohio Grass and Hammond townships. A well on Ehrman Farm north of Rockport reaches 950 feet with an oil bearing sand bed and a three foot oil sand layer found. Dr Ehrman weighs winter plans between Palm Beach California or Italy.

Fire alarm signal divisions explained by Rockport system

The Common Council sets four city divisions for fire protection, each divided into districts with a whistle code from Rockport Water Works. Signals use one long blast and two short for division one, three shorts for division two, and five shorts for division four, with district specifics indicated by additional short blasts east or west of key streets.

Shovelers on the new court house excavation began a strike Wednesday morning seeking equal pay with carpenters. They had been earning 2.50 dollars per day, protesting the wage disparity.

Cornerstone Ceremony Planned for Rock Port Court House

The Masonic lodge of Rock Port has accepted an invitation to lay the cornerstone of the new court house with the grand lodge of the state likely to join. The ceremony is planned for late June as per a board of commissioners order, with the local Masons' committee on arrangements led by F. A. Hearing and including Charles Mayhall, Charles Lieb, John Chewning, John J. Brown, T. C. Basye, and C. W. Halbruge.

A home-coming service for soldier boys at Oak Grove church on Sunday May 25 1919 starts 10 30 a m with a drill by the boys. Prof W F Adams speaks at 11 30 and L N Savage at 3 p m.
