W. W. Ice Arrives in New York After Navy Torpedo Loss
Melvin Ice of Cross Roads received a telegram from the Y M C A in Brooklyn declaring W. W. Ice, son of Melvin, has arrived safely in America. Ice, a Navy mechanic for ten years, was in the Lakemoor engine room when torpedoed off England on April 11. Rescued by a passing vessel, he was believed lost by his shipmates and officials.
