Attorney W C Mason is agreed as special judge to hear the Luce township rock road case next week. A temporary restraining order blocked the February 15 election. If dissolved the rock road election will likely follow shortly.
C F Squier died suddenly of heart trouble Friday evening at his Mt Zion area farm home one half mile south of town. Aged 50, he was born in the Mt Zion neighborhood and married to Ida Axton. Survived by wife two daughters Audrey Jones and Eva Ice and son C W Savier and one brother W E Savier. Funeral held Sunday afternoon at Mt Zion conducted by Rev Suttle of Dale.
The Lake postoffice will be renamed Richland replacing Lake. Fifteen years ago residents asked to change to Richland City. Congress approved but residents rejected Richland. Charles E. Abshier is reappointed postmaster at Richland this week.
The body of Mrs. Anna Taylor who died last week in Seattle arrived here accompanied by her son Harry M. Taylor. The funeral took place Monday at the M. E. church on Fifth street with Rev. A L Bennett officiating and burial at Sunset Hill.

The freshmen held a party at the Washington building with neapolitan cream and cake served. Evansville College president Hughes spoke to seniors and students. The 12A physics class visited the electric light plant to study machinery. The inter class track meet flaws are being made and time to be determined. The 17A class studies Macbeth with several scenes dramatized.
Richland High School adds a new encyclopedia set to the library. Anna Belle Woodruff remains ill with scarlet fever while Larilda Glenn is quarantined at home this week due to a family outbreak. Sophomores plan an eye roast Friday at Helen Hayford's home. The senior class of 1920 to hold a reunion soon with Ina Walter absent in California.

Recitations issued by Mr and Mrs Peter J Bauwens Hammond Ind announce the marriage of their daughter Virginia Margaret to Dr Carl F Morgenthaler son of Mr and Mrs F S Morgenthaler of this city. The ceremony will be held at four oclock Wednesday afternoon April 6 at St Pauls Episcopal Church Hammond.
Mrs Margaret Wright marked her 90th birthday with an informal reception at her Third Street home last Sunday. Her daughters Misses Puss and Laura Wright helped entertain friends throughout the day.

Chris Pfeifer returns to Rockwort last Friday after spending late winter in Magnolia Springs Alabama. Misses Carrie and Anna Pfeifer will come back later in the spring.
Miss Lucille Richards entertained many friends Thursday evening with a Japanese dance at the home of Mr and Mrs Arnett Richards on Main street. Neutzel's Jazz Orchestra provided music while Japanese lanterns and red bud branches decorated the house. Punch and a supper of chicken salad sandwiches olives and cranberry ice were served. Chaperones included Mr and Mrs R W Richards and others.
The marriage of Nellie Olive McDonald and Wendell Brinkman Eskridge was solemnized Saturday at the Calvary Baptist parsonage with Rev. Jenkins officiating. Attendants were Miss Helen Crescel and Gilbert Melton. The couple will reside with the groom’s parents after visiting friends in Owensboro and Rockport. Eskridge is the son of Mrs. Annie Eskridge and a 1917 Evansville High School graduate.
Alva Glenn aged 61 died last Monday morning at her Hatfield home after years of illness. She leaves husband, three daughters Cora Crowder Clyde Simms of Evansville and Euphalia Glenn, sister Mrs Joseph Cates of Central City Ky and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning by Rev Clarence Shake and Rev E K Young. burial in Ebenezer cemetery.
J F Wilkinson of Luce township shipped pecan and walnut trees to Shanghai China by parcel post for S T Wang to plant in the Kinsan arboretum. Wang also ordered one ton of black walnuts. Wilkinson has sent stock catalogs to Australia and South America. Postage on the China shipment totaled 2.28.
Miss Mattie Mae Thompson, just back from Red Cross work in Romania, will be decorated soon by the Queen of Romania in recognition of her services there. She served in Romania for about a year and also spent another year in Europe and Asia, including England and Japan, in various aid roles.
Court records show Marion Metcalf named receiver for the American Co operative Association and Edward Metz, with a $3,000 bond. The case alleges misused funds, insufficient assets, and false stock value, seeking $1,500 judgment. Other suits include remedial loan actions and a divorce filing by Sallie V. Pine. A gate tree, Kohlreuteria, was planted at the courthouse yard by Clarence P. Wolfe.

Walter J. Weiss, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, elected president of a state association of Kansas printers at a meeting in Wichita. The group declined to grant the printers a 44 hour week. Weiss and his wife will attend the international rotary meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, in mid May for about two months. Louis F. Weiss and his wife plan to visit their son Walter and family before their trip to Scotland.
Mrs C D Ehrman entertained a theatre party Saturday evening for Miss Ma bel Jones of English Indiana the house guest of Mrs Burl McMahal. Guests included Mrs Burl McMahal Miss Dorothy Ehrman home from Monticello Seminary Godfrey Ill Miss Anna Lorene Mohr Miss Mary Guard Kellams Miss Martha Luckado and Miss Margaret Sargent. A luncheon followed at the Ehrman home after the show.
On a Tuesday near the new court house the clock began striking and puzzled bystanders heard the precise hourly and half hourly tones. The crowd learned city hall fire bell was being manipulated by court officials to mimic the clock and display its hourly chimes.

A fire caused by a spark from a chimney damaged the roof on Third Street. Water and fire loss totaled about one hundred dollars, with insurance covering the damage.
