Elizabeth Haaff born in Maryland moved to Spencer county Indiana in infancy. First married to Whitfield Miller who died in the Civil War at Atlanta. Survived by G A Haaff whom she wed in March 1864 and five children. She joined Evangelical then Presbyterian church and died March 14 1910 at age 74 years 26 days.
The Farmers Educational Cooperative Union of America plans a world’s first mass convention in St Louis Missouri from May 2 to May 8. Clerks miners factory workers and foresters are invited to join for three daily sessions at the Coliseum. An invitation to the American Society of Equity seeks joint conference for closer union.
The W M A of the U B church hosted a birthday dinner for Mrs J M Abshier at her country home on Sunday March 20. Seventy five relatives and friends attended with baskets, sharing a sumptuous repast. Rev J A Hile led song and prayer, and Mrs Abshire expressed thanks for the friendship and gifts received.
In spring weather residents are urged to boost civic pride by cleaning yards and surroundings. The plan emphasizes collecting rubbish, burning papers, covering garbage cans, and fighting house flies through a special cleaning day and improved sanitary conditions.

The Republican county committee fixed an April 5 primary date but state convention changes moved it to April 7 then to April 19. Readers are informed the primary will be held April 10 unless another change occurs before April 19.
A two story frame house owned by Henry Hoch in Mackeytown burned early Saturday. Mrs. Prosser and Mrs. Tom Kurney occupied the home. Kurney was away at the time. Some of Prosser’s belongings were saved while Narney’s were all destroyed. The building was insured but contents were not insured.
Boonville physician Dr. Thomas Wright, formerly of Midway, runs for the Democratic nomination to represent Warrick County in the upcoming election.
The Lieb and Artman Derrick at the upper landing collapsed Wednesday while unloading heavy logs from a barge. The carrying beam snapped, stay beams gave way, and a mass of timbers and wire rope fell into the river. No one was injured though several men were near the derrick. Damage runs to several hundred dollars.

W H Phillips died at his home after a tuberculosis illness. The funeral was held at Perry Phillips home in Pigeon Switch with interment at Stark's cemetery. Rev J C Wyatt conducted the service. He is survived by his wife and two sons Emery and Pearl Phillips.
