Ray Combs, described as aggressor, dies in Hatfield shooting. Jesse Grant reportedly shoots back and is killed by Ray’s brother, leaving a complex family feud and unresolved motives. Police investigation underway.
A Tuesday night shooting in Hatfield left Ray Combs dead and Jesse Grant wounded. The confrontation stemmed from months of bad feeling as Grant faced repeated harassment by the Combs brothers who had previously fled to Kentucky. Grant surrendered in Rockport on manslaughter charges, bond set at 1000, while Coroner Maslowsky ruled the incident justifiable homicide.
The will, dated January 6, 1911, names George Bauer as executor. It bequeaths ten dollars to Herman Bauer, Peter Bauer, Barbara Wetzel, Maggie Brown, and the heirs of John Bauer, all siblings of the deceased, and grants the real estate to George Bauer.
David L Morgan 64 died at home on Third Street after a three month illness from Brights disease and complications. He lived near Rockport, served seven years on the city council, and was president of the Old Rockport Bank at his death. He leaves wife Sallie Wallace, son John Wallace, and mother Mary Hall among others in the immediate family. The Knights Templars of Evansville led his funeral service conducted at the family residence.
A list of land transactions shows multiple deeds and partial interests transferred among individuals such as John P. Chrisney, Eugene Rowder, Ida Hulsey, Daniel Beeler, John A. Bressler, and Agnes McClain with prices ranging from 60 to 500 dollars. The Rockport Improvement Association and Chalmers & Son are noted for land plots and surveys, with thirty seven mortgages, twenty four releases and one will recorded in the past week.
A stock holders meeting in Owensboro re elected all old officers. A H Kennedy is president E T Franks first vice president D M Griffith second vice president Gray Haynes treasurer. Directors include J A Manning HE W Smith L D Ray J Ed Guenther and D C Stimson. The Owensboro Inquirer notes progress toward a bridge across the Ohio River with anticipated advancement before year end.
About thirty children and grandchildren of the late Col. and Mrs. G. R. Kellams gathered last Sunday at the home of W. W. Kellams for a family reunion in the city. The day featured shared memories and fellowship among relatives.
A large Kellams family reunion gathered on a Jackson township farm near Bradley station with five brothers and four sisters present plus spouses children and grandchildren. Attendees included EFA Kellams Nora Sender Ma Kellams H L Kellams Maud Kelley Carl Edwid G and others from Evansville Sterling Kans Lake Willize Ark Louisville and Hownsville. A noon dinner group photos and songs followed a day of memory and kinship.
The board led by D. S. Tullis and B. F. Bridges toured the jail finding two in custody for drunkenness and no trials pending. They urged repairs to the female prison floor, noted orphanage children barred by whooping cough, and appealed for good homes. They met twenty two at the county farm, with one pneumonia case among the elderly, and called for up-to-date facilities.
Factories in North Rock Port are at full capacity and employing many men. Business in the town is moving upward despite Democrats carrying Spencer County Indiana and the nation, as well as the lower house election results, and despite threats of Canadian reciprocity.
The Rockport city council fixed saloon license fees at 500 within two miles of the city, using a suspension of the rules and an emergency clause. Grandview trustees set their town fee at 300, while Rockport plans action on wholesale liquor traffic next week.

In Sapulpa Oklahoma on Wednesday March 15 the marriage united Miss Gerald Morgan and Mr John E Stevenson both of the city The bride has spent ten months with her sister Mrs George Wetzel in Sapulpa while the groom has been in El Paso Texas They will travel here late this week and begin housekeeping on the groom’s father John T Stevensons farm in Luce township
Anne Rudisill, born March 16, 1882 in Spencer County Indiana, died February 28, 1911 in Spottsville Kentucky at age 28 11 12. He married Nancy Lee Hornback in January 1902 and they had two sons Johnny and Leroy. Survived by wife, two sons, father Joseph, brothers James M and Willie, and sisters Addie Nellie of Spottsville and Mrs Warren Stoser of Richland Indiana.
Invitations have been received for the marriage of Miss Barbara Ethel Trenary and Mr. Walter McConnel. The ceremony will take place Tuesday March 21 at 10 30 a m in the MBS church at Elnora Indiana. The couple will reside in Marion Kentucky.
The Thirty-fifth annual session of the Southern Indiana teachers association will convene in Indianapolis from March 30 to April 1. The state spelling contest is scheduled for Thursday March 30 at 2 p.m. in the hall of representatives at the state house.
In Lincoln City a Thursday morning shooting left John McDaniel and Union Douglas involved. Douglas knocked McDaniel down, McDaniel produced a 22 caliber pistol and fired, striking Douglas above the eye but not penetrating the bone. Douglas disarmed McDaniel as onlookers separated them.

Stocking in a circuit court action on a transcript from J. P. court. John M. Hall sues James B. O Connor for possession of real estate.
