The Literary club held a delightful afternoon at Mrs J H Diehl's home with a relaxed program and cherry preserves served. Honor guest Mrs Born of Indianapolis attended along with 12 members and guests, totaling 15 in all.
Mrs C W Halbruge hosted a Lin coln Ave party Saturday night for Miss Kittie Niblack. Guests enjoyed a Paris Easter bonnet gift and other presents, birthday cake, and tutti fruity ice cream as laughter and merriment followed the celebration.
The K of P lodge conducted Page's degree work Wednesday evening and plans Page's and Esquire's degrees next Wednesday. Nearby lodges are invited to attend and the local lodge is purchasing new paraphernalia.
Maurice Haug son of Joseph Haug of Dale has reached New York and will likely return to Samp Taylor to be mustered out soon. He received a leg wound in France but is now in splendid health.
Sargent Wm. E. Brown has received his honorable discharge and returned home. He arrived at Hoboken New Jersey from overseas February 22 and was sent to Camp Sherman Ohio where he was discharged.
The Democrat thanks Dr. D. W. McClary for a copy of Home Again issued by soldiers for soldiers patients at the I. S. Hospital Fox Hills Staten Island where he is stationed.
Mrs John Baumgaertner died at her California home this Thursday morning. A telegram to Mrs Sam Zachritz did not state funeral arrangements.

Born near New Boston, she is linked to pioneers Joseph and Gabriella Evans and is the last of a large old-time family. Her health is good and she resides with Mr and Mrs J M Daniel.
Miss Sarah Houston hosted a Tuesday afternoon gathering for her girl friends at her Center street home. Guests included Katheryn Hibbs Mary Pyle Mary Adams Enda Lloyd Whitehouse Viola Abshier Jeanette Raines Judith Parker Melba Partridge and Pauline Spayd with light refreshments served.
The county offices will relocate within the city when the new courthouse is built. Locations include the Clerk of the Circuit Court at City Hall and the Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder, County Assessor in the Lieb building, with moves planned for April after old courthouse sale. Will of Catharine Beeler probated for Nettie and Jennie Beeler and others.
The Baptist Young Peoples Union holds its quarterly convention at Rockport Baptist Church on Thursday March 27 with representatives from surrounding churches. A full program will be presented in the morning afternoon and evening inviting all to attend and meet the young Christian workers.
Wleenor Bauman was bitten by a Gog owned by Fred Hamilton Monday evening while passing the Hamilton residence. Wounds were cauterized and no serious effects are expected.
D S Hill who had a serious operation at Sir Marys Hospital Evansville is sufficiently recovered to return home Monday. He is able to walk about some.
Charles Davis, who had a serious blood poisoning in his hand, is somewhat improved and resting at home after treatment and care.
Simon Limberger, who has been seriously ill for the past two weeks, is reported somewhat better.
