The speech criticizes trusts for controlling essential goods and driving up prices while wages lag. It argues farmers are harmed by market forces, not trusts, and calls for legislation to shield the public from extortion. It notes beef packers pay low prices to farmers but charge high consumer prices, and links this to large packer combinations.
The Republican state committee fixed April 5 as the convention date and will cut the event to a single day with no speeches except pre approved ones. Miss Della Miller sixteen died at home Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Rockport. She was a Rockport High School junior praised as bright. Funeral plans from the family residence on South Lincoln Street Friday at 2 30 p m with Rev. Edwin H Boldrey of the M E church to officiate.
Elijah C Stuteville aged 79 died Wednesday from pneumonia at his country home west of Rockport. He is survived by his wife three daughters Mrs Bona Schoenfeld Mrs Wayne Winkler and Miss Grace Stuteville and a son W O Stuteville. Funeral service held at 2 pm from the residence conducted by Rev J C Wyatt with interment in Sunset Hill cemetery.
Samuel Farley tried to flag a traction car on the eastbound line Saturday evening near Washington street. He was struck by the car and knocked down. the grip caused a bruise over his right eye. The car halted and returned to Main street station where Dr. C. D. Ehrman found only the bruise with no other injuries.
Jacob S. Brothers suffered a left arm fracture and wrist dislocation from a fall at his north Fifth Street home. Dr. D. Ehrman reduced the fracture, described as very serious for his age.
Last Thursday evening at their home on its street Mr and Mrs B F Huffman entertained at Five hundred. The high est score for the ladies was Mrs C D HKhrman and for the gentlemen Mr Allen P Rice. A late luncheon followed.
N Tower sustained serious head wounds and a fractured wrist when his mule team bolted on Fifth Street on Wednesday evening. He fell and struck stepping stones, cutting two gashes near the skull. Dr. Lang treated him before he was taken home to Kensington by car after the team was checked at Power's corner.

Kruse for Hammond township.
The Evansville & Eastern electric road received a franchise from the city council at a special meeting last Thursday. The grant covers Fifth street from Main to the corporation line and requires two street switches, one linking with the Southern railroad and another to a freight depot and substation. Main street freight franchise was deferred to the next regular meeting.
Watson McCoy longtime Rockport resident dies at home on Seminary street after weeks of heart trouble. A G A R member and I O O F lodge brother, he leaves a wife a daughter Mrs. Mary Jones and siblings including Dr. L H McCoy. Remains were taken to Gentryville for burial.
Mrs. Sarah DeBruler widow of Dr. DeBruler died at her Evansville home Saturday at age eighty four. She was born in Rockport, daughter of Judge John W. Graham and last survivor of the Graham family. She was aunt to 8. O. and Kit Graham of this city.
Southern Indiana pitcher Gas Powers, renowned as a swift thrower, signs a contract to pitch for Hutchinson in the Kansas State League next season. He will earn $85 a month at the start and is expected to perform well after solid work in a portion of last season with a Southern League club.
Herb Wells and a crew began Monday to survey the Evansville and Eastern electric railway extension from Rockport to Grand View. The route starts at Main and 8th streets, follows Rockport street to the corporation line, then heads west along Lake Drain, crosses the big covered bridge, and continues toward Grand View via Grandview road to Bartrim farm. Construction may start soon.
Christopher C. Woodruff files suit against Louis Horn seeking a restraining order to bar farming on disputed lands and requesting possession of the real estate.

John L Barr to C W Bradley for lot 7 and part of lot 6 in Gentryville valued seven hundred fifty dollars.

Coley Cox of Piggott Arkansas and Miss Alta Hanegar of Luce township were married last Sunday at 2 PM at John Rudisel's country home with Rev. J A Hile officiating. The couple will reside in Piggott Arkansas.
