Leases Favor Oil Landowners and Gas Wells Prompt Local Talks
The Rockport Democrat notes recent leases on oil and gas lands favor landowners with terms like one eighth of oil and 100 to 200 dollars per year per gas well. Some leases require wells to be started within 60 to 90 days and payments of 1.25 to 1.50 dollars per acre after that if wells are not completed. Local residents visit relatives as gas activity grows and a glass factory discussion arises with Noblesville ties.
