Rockport High School graduates receive diplomas in 1921

Rockport High School held commencement exercises with a ceremony at Central School. Principal UC and alumni leader Miss Laura Wright spoke of education’s importance. Corn Demonstrations Find Hog Feeding Beats Husked Corn

Reports from 36 demonstrations in 15 counties show hogs gain faster and more cheaply when fed on corn that is not husked. An average hog consumes five and a half bushels during a four day hogging off period, with two to three bushels per hog providing the feed. Heavy milking cows should receive grain while on pasture. Chinch bugs increase. farmers advised to spray early, use Chinch Bug Oil as barrier, and protect fields to prevent year to year growth.

Miss Marguerite Roberts daughter of Judge and Mrs R E H Roberts of Rockport won a preliminary to the Bishop William F Anderson Oratorical contest and will compete during commencement week. Evansville College progress shows cornerstone laid June 22 for administration building with a three story stone structure gymnasium and power plant planned this year. trustees allocate 400000 for the work and delivery slated January 1 1922.

Walden Restaurant Destroyed in Fire on 5th Street

A Tuesday morning fire gutted the Walden restaurant on 5th Street between Main and Elm, with the back living area also damaged. Arthur Walden and his family barely escaped, losing the building and contents with $900 total insured against $400 building loss. The cause is undetermined though cigarette stubs are suspected.

Legion Honors Dead In Local Memorial Services

Legion salutes veterans with a Monday ceremony at Centerville and surrounding towns. Ex servicemen Walter Kay Robert Woods Martie Tullis Everett Gentry and others served as firing squad guards and pallbearers. Memorials at the Baptist church featured remarks on the American Legion and 190 per cent Americanism with solos and a reading by local participants.

Golden anniversary celebrated at 1120 William Street

George Nicolai Dies at 68 in Evansville

George Nicolai died last Saturday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs Henry Blanck in Evansville at age 68 from complications of diseases. Survived by a niece Mrs John Hoops of Lamar and several nephews and nieces. Former Rockport resident moved to Evansville six years ago. Brick mason by trade. Funeral services were held at a Lutheran church in Evansville last Monday afternoon with burial there.

Diligent Daughters Meet at Mrs Rimstidt Home

The Diligent Daughters of Trinity Lutheran church met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Fred Rimstidt on Fourth Street. Prizes went to Miss Eva Kehrer and Mrs. Amelia Mohr. Refreshments were served. The next meeting is scheduled for the last Monday in June at Mrs. Allen McCullough's home.

Mrs Lizzie Bosier of Paris Illinois will stay a week with her brother, visiting relatives and friends, after arriving last Sunday for a short stay.
