Miss Elnora Kirchgessner and George Brenner were married at St Joseph s Church Evansville last Monday morning. The bride is the eldest Kirchgessner daughter and formerly a Rockport Milling bookkeeper. The groom works as motorman for the Ohio Valley Railway running Evansville to Henderson. They will reside in Evansville.
Lynn Robertson, state farm management leader, will present at the chautauqua all next week with charts and figures on wheat corn hogs and cattle costs. W E D Rummel of the American Farm Bureau will speak Saturday August 6 on Ideals of American Agriculture. Poultry culling demonstrations are planned for August 8 and 15 with two sessions per township.
Samuel Allen of this city lost sight in his right eye last Tuesday while unloading freight at the depot. He felt a scum cross the eye and found he could not see. A local physician advised a specialist. In Evansville Wednesday the eye was examined with no encouragement. Doctors diagnosed a burst blood vessel and a clot behind the sighted area, with little chance of recovery. The eye appears normal.
Miss Blanche Whitehouse and Asa Jones wed last Thursday evening at the Methodist parsonage with Rev. A L Bennett officiating at eight o'clock. Carl Whitehouse served as only attendant. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Whitehouse, worked for Indiana Bell as a local exchange operator. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Jones of this city, and the couple reside with the groom's parents on Fourth Street.
David Morgan recalls Rockport and Spencer County in 1856 from an Ohio River view. The piece describes steamboat lines Cincinnati and Memphis, Louisville routes, coal and iron trades, and early industry. It portrays a fisherman's boat, hoop nets, and a sawmill with tramcars, logs, and lumber production along Locust Street.

Word came last Friday that Robert Whitaker was killed at a flouring mill in Lansing Michigan where he served as head miller. He formerly lived in Rockport but had been away twelve years. Survived by wife, three children, one sister Mrs George Clement of Chrisney and one brother James Whitaker of Myrtle Point Oregon. Funeral and burial were held Monday afternoon in Lansing.
