Clifford Ford son of Amos Ford died Monday July 23 at 7 30 leaving a widow with no children. The remains were laid to rest in Highland cemetery Wednesday morning July 20 with funeral services at the Highland church conducted by Rev. J M Daniel of this city.

West End Sunday Night Shooting Shocks Crowd
A shooting near the Negro Baptist church at Eighth and Seminary streets left Gene Lowery gravely wounded with one bullet through the heart and another grazing the skull. Hugh McAfee alias Little Pig fled the scene, the gun found to be a 92 calibre revolver. Police searched the area with no immediate trace of McAfee as bystanders reported the incident and the victim was taken to a room above Morris Gordon's restaurant for emergency care.

Stranger fleeces Rockport residents with room-rent scam
