M E C A Society Meeting at Mrs Bridges Home
A pleasant M E C A gathering was hosted by Mrs Della Bridges on the bluff Tuesday evening. Guests enjoyed lantern lit verandas, a program with Miss Esther Walker instrumental numbers and Mrs Bertha Hartley reading a Psalm parody, followed by topics on anticipation versus realization, voting, driving pleasures, pay equality, contentment, and how to use a million dollars. Mrs Balbach Dies at 24 in Hammond Township
Katie Tanner Balbach was born in Tell City October 10 1889 and died at her home in Hammond township northwest of Grandview July 20 1914 aged 24 years nine months and ten days. She married John Balbach in Tell City November 10 1908 and had children Catherine Henry and Helen. Survived by husband five sisters and two brothers, with remains taken to Tell City for burial.

Fire from faulty flue damages Vogelsang home

Lightning Wrecks Barns Across County in Storm
In a single morning electrical storm four barns burned to the ground. Della Johnson’s northeast of Cheney barn saved livestock by quick family action as rain helped. Henry Trinkle’s Centerville barn also burned with two horses lost. At Joseph Bretz’s farm six miles north of Rockport fire from the threshing engine damaged grain and a straw stack, nearly reaching the grainery, with the separator insured.

Insanity inquest adjourns for Mrs Fortson to Woodmere
In Squire Perry Phillips court last Thursday an insanity inquest found Mrs Fortson of Jackson township insane and application for admittance to Woodmere was filed. Clerk Woolfolk received notice from Woodmere that she was accepted. Fortson, 43, mother of seven, lives in Jackson township. Hannah Wright of South Rockport fractured her hip after a porch fall. Dr. C D Ehrman attended.
