Allen Gentry left Monday for Chicago to visit his sister Mrs. Alfred Hopkins and his brother Richard Gentry for two weeks.
Phillip J Bretz was celebrated at a noon dinner last Sunday marking his second birthday with a surprise party. Family and relatives gathered at the Bretz home on Eighth and Williamson streets after a church visit led by Ferdinand Kratz and C C Murray. A large birthday cake with lit tapers was served to Mr and Mrs Bretz and guests including Ferdinand Kratz and two Chrisney sons, Raymond Bretz and family, Ollie Horseman and son, Otto Fueger and son William Morris, Co C Murray, Clinton Murray, Mollie Huffman and John Huffman.
Edley Brown aged 78 died early last Saturday at his Main Street home. He had been an invalid for years after Civil War injuries and fractured his left hip in a fall on July 8. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Guy V. Hartman from the home and burial followed at Sunset Hill cemetery. He is survived by his wife, one son Clarence Brown of Alton Illinois, four grandchildren Henry Eigenman Clare Eigenman Robert Montgomery and Sara line Brown who lived with him.
The M. E. C. A. held a lawn party Tuesday evening at Mrs. Gene Scamahorn's home. Miss Lucille Richards read and Miss Mary Steele sang. Ice cream sandwiches were served by the committee. Out-of-town guest Mrs. Ingie Walker of Pittsburg attended. The August meeting will be a picnic and boating party hosted by Mrs. Robert Miller.
The Spencer county anti tuberculosis society begins a membership drive Monday July 23 through chautauqua week. In the past year six clinics were held with over 100 individuals examined. The society runs five rest cottages and will accept memberships at one cottage on the chautauqua grounds. Individual membership is $50 and family membership $1.00.
Mrs Will H Nuetzel returns Monday night from Louisville Kentucky where she visited relatives for three weeks. She is accompanied home by her uncle Thomas Bonn who will stay a week with the Nuetzels.
Robert Morris, hospitalized in St. Louis for six months, will go home next Wednesday. He will be met in Evansville by his grandfather, P. J. Bretz.
Rockport prepares a formal dedication of the New River Front Park and Tourist Camp. Mayor to receive the key and preside at the ceremony. Community figures highlight the project as a boost for tourism and public recreation.

Mr and Mrs Johnny Feigel and their son Charles were summoned to Indianapolis when Thom as Dugas husband of Blanche Feigel died after an appendectomy. Funeral services were held in Indianapolis Friday. Mr Feigel and Charles returned to Rockport last Sunday and Mrs Feigel, with Mrs Dugas, plans to return later this week.
Mrs J C Glackman and Miss Clayton Glackman attended an Indianpolis meeting of the state executive board of the American Legion Auxiliary where Mrs Glackman was named chairman of the state liaison committee to coordinate Legion activities.

Drs Frank Miller took Mrs Miller to Evansville on a packet Tuesday for a serious operation. The procedure addressed appendicitis and gall stones at St Marys hospital Wednesday morning. She was accompanied by her husband and Mr and Mrs Robert Miller. She was doing nicely Thursday morning.
