R B Pattie Sr, respected Luce township resident, died at home near Hatfield last Thursday at age 79 after a two week illness. Funeral held at home Friday led by Rev J C Wyatt, with T J Bennett and Rev Albert Halliwell assisting. Burial at Mt Zion cemetery. He is survived by five sons John, James, R B, F L, Frank Pattie and two daughters Pearl Straw and Bessie Dayle.

River bottom barn fire at Hill farm injures hay and tools
A large barn on the river bottom farm of David S. Hill burned around nine Thursday morning. Authorities suspect arson as the cause. The barn stored hay and farming implements and some insurance coverage was in place.

Louis Jacobs ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Will Jacobs living near Cross Roads suffered a deep head wound when a colt ran away with him Sunday afternoon. A skull bone was removed and reports from his bedside say he is improving.
