Injured Farmer Recovers After Barn Ladder Fall
Ed Dawson of three miles southeast of Richland City dislocated his shoulder at home after falling from a ladder in his barn loft while throwing hay. A physician dressed the wound and by Wednesday he was able to be on the streets in Richland City.

Cattle killed by lightning near Rockport in storm
Two I E Richardson cows west of Rockport were struck by lightning during a four o'clock Monday morning wind and rain storm. One was a prized Jersey milker and the other a cow with a calf. both found warm and dead near the barn. A shade tree nearby shows bark removal from the bolt. The First German Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance adjusted the loss. Lightning also damaged Loren Green’s Harvey farm residence chimney and roof, with the bolt hitting the gable end while Green was inside.

Has Thrilling Experience On Return Trip
Joseph Heichelbech of Dale reported a narrow escape on a trip with John Toole from Ferdinand and Henryville. A heavy rain caused a bottom trough to overflow and flood the road, forcing their buggy and horse through water up to their armpits. Heichelbech swore he would not endure it again in Spencer County.

Damp Weather Threatens Wheat Crop Yields
Only a small portion of the wheat has been threshed as rain and damp conditions cause sprouts in the shocks. In many fields the tops and bands show green for long stretches. If rain persists another week, the crop damage could be extensive.
