Hydrophobia Cases Prompt Indianapolis Treatment
Two girls aged 17 and another victim from Clay Hill were taken to Indianapolis for Pasteur treatment after a dog bite in late June. The dog’s head was sent for analysis and hydrophobia was confirmed July 3. Fire wipes out Richland City business block
A Friday morning blaze destroyed three business houses and a cottage in Richland City. The hardest hit was lumber dealer W. Q. Collins with about $10,000 loss. Jess Roberts and Andy Bentley also suffered total losses. Bentley will not rebuild. Insurance ranged up to $4,800 on some properties. Neighbors aided with bucket brigades to prevent spread.

Masterson May Be Too Young for Draft Exemption
Ea Masterson of Grandview reportedly failed to register for the draft. A warrant was sworn, Sheriff Chapman and officer tried to serve it in Perry county, but Masterson was not found. Birth records show 34, but Perry clerk Sam Anderson cites June 28 1889 as birth date making him 28. He must explain before the exemption board at the courthouse.

County Commissioners Fill Auditor Vacancy and Award Bridge Contracts
In a special session the board named A. B. Branch to fill the County Auditor post until the next regular election.
