The Auditor of State seeks $41,413.23 from 200 outside insurance companies for taxes allegedly paid to former auditors between 1891 and 1895. The supreme court ruled audits did not legally receive the funds, so the state asks insurers to cover the amounts retained by Daily and Henderson. Some checks were made payable to auditors, allowing 10 percent fees to be kept. If unpaid, suits will follow per the court decision.

Horse Runs Away Demolishing Wagon in Hill Run
