County Commencements Consolidated. Chautauqua Program Set
County commencements, once two planned, will be consolidated into one event at Grandview on Saturday July 20 as part of the Chautauqua program. The association promises an excellent schedule with morning afternoon and night lectures and acts. Reverend Jacob E. Meeker will lecture, followed by a half hour prelude by Castle Sauate entertainers.

Graduation Day At Castle Square Chautauqua Program
Diplomas will be presented and at 8 p m the Castle Square Entertainers will perform a full program. A band provided by the association will enhance the day. A large crowd hosted a surprise house warming for Mr. and Mrs. Claud Beeler. Sam Beeler and wife escorted them on an auto ride and returned to find about 150 friends with baskets. An afternoon program featured solos by C. C. Pirtle and others, with instrumental numbers and sacred hymns. Cream and cake ended the gathering as guests wished them many more pleasant surprises.

The Spencer county board of review adjourned after twenty six days, with few complaints. Banks protested bank stock assessments, which remained at 75 percent. The Rockport Tobacco Company and numerous local corporations were assessed, including Dale State Bank, Old Rockport Bank, Brown Trust Co, First National Bank, Lake State Bank, Grandview Bank, and many others with figures ranging from five hundred to forty thousand dollars.
