Men Drive Sled Teams to Clear Roads After Snow

Five Ford cars lost in blizzard trip to Louisville
W R Richards Alex DeWitt Raymond Bretz Fred and John Fella drove five Ford cars from Louisville to bring them home but were halted near Kellarsville in Dubois county by deep snow. They abandoned four cars along the road and trudged four miles to Jasper. Richards and Bretz suffered frozen toes and were treated by doctors. They reached home Sunday night.

County Board Considers War Time County Agent
The county board of education met last Monday and voted to discontinue schools during bad weather unless 60 percent attendance is reached. Fella Plans New Farm Venture After April Opening
Fella, agent for Fulton Ave. Brewing Co., visited Mt. Vernon to arrange beer wagon withdrawal. He bought a first class tractor with three plows for farming on his river bottom farm. He aims to raise more corn per acre than rivals at corn schools at Purdue, a place he has not visited. The tractor will arrive in time for a grand opening when weather permits.

The Spencer county Mothers of Our Soldiers group led by Mrs. Alice Morgenthaler do sewing for Red Cross, make fracture pillows and quilts, and send prayers and sympathy letters. At Christmas they gifted thirty six Spencer county soldier boys in service out of state and received help from local volunteers including Mrs. Grant Johnson, Mrs. Charles Turner, Mrs. George Kasey, Mrs. David Kennedy, Mrs. Harris, and Miss Blanche Haskins.
