County Commissioners met to finalize 1920 business ordering bond printing for several roads James H Kirkland and Herbert O Gargett roads were set for elections February 15 Luce and Anderson Parker petitions and election plans were discussed Viewers were ordered for the Glenn road and bids for hooks and stationery were rejected Construction bids awarded for James P Frank road in Ohio township at 28250 The board approved viewer reports for several road petitions and appointed multiple viewers and officials including janitor and county attorney contracts Also numerous court suits were filed or moved and the county circuit court began a new session with various matters scheduled or decided
Priv Vitus Brown son of Mr and Mrs Clyde Brown died in Orleans France October 18 1918 from wounds His funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by Revs Bennett and Davis under Jenkins Legion Post 204 The burial took place at Shiloh
The Literary Club met with Mrs. K C Atchison to study Whittier's Snowbound led by Mrs. James Rimstidt. The group discussed plans for the Annual Club Luncheon to be held in February.
Mrs. Thomas Woolfolk and Mrs. William T. Cadick hosted a childrens party Saturday at the Woolfolk home in Grandview for Miss Mary Sue Kellams of Oklahoma City. Guests included Mary Sue Kellams and many local children and adults attended with music games and dancing.
A party of Misses Margaret Sargent Esther Brown Charlotte Pyeatt Irene Woolfolk and Messrs Ray Woolfolk Bernard Wohler and Ivan Miller attended the New Year dance at the Hotel McCurdy in Evansville last Friday night.
Julia Mary and Ray Harrell Mattingley entertained many friends Saturday afternoon at the Mattingley home on Third Street for a New Years celebration with Helen Wilkinson among the guests.

An elegant Thursday wedding occurred at the Ehrman home as Miss Enda Mae Higenmann wed Mr. Robert Montgomery in a ceremony led by Rev. J. H. Diehl before more than a hundred relatives. Attendants were Miss Dorothy Ehrman and Lester Yeager.
The American Legion has bought the G. A. R. hall and plans to host dances every two weeks. They are cleaning the floors and preparing the venue, aiming to open in about a week.
Miss Irene Woolfolk hosted an informal tea last Saturday at her Grandview home in honor of Miss Mary Rachael Sargeant of Newbury, the house guest of Miss Vesta White. Dolores Keller, daughter of Mr and Mrs Bert Keller, broke her right arm roller skating last Monday.

Miss Bertha B. Cook, who has served as Spencer County home demonstrator for two years, departed Tuesday for Chicago to visit briefly before starting work in a new field.

Farmers who have tobacco for market in Rockport say they do not expect much of the crop to be sold this season. They express concerns about demand and price and indicate farmers may hold back on selling.

Florence A Mahatha, a Red Cross nurse, arrived in Rockport to conduct a home hygiene and sick care course. The schedule covers two lessons weekly across Grandview, Rockport, Hatfield, Richland, and Chrisney with adult, high school, and young ladies classes. A $2 fee plus 60 cent text book are due at the first session.

The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs in Rockport held a public installation of officers last Tuesday evening with a banquet for about 150 members and friends. Harry Krueger directed the service as officers were named for Rebekahs and LO. C. F. officials.
Mrs Grace Drew and George Schanessy of Indianapolis were married Saturday afternoon at the Lutheran Parsonage. Rev Diehl officiated. The couple will reside in Indianapolis. Mrs Schanessy was a clerk at CoW Halbruge store and the groom worked on the courthouse construction.
Thomas W. Lindsey of Evansville visited the city last Friday to interview members of a VFW camp in Rockport and to revive the S. E. Smith camp 8. VFW which existed twenty five years ago but lost its charter for lack of interest and membership. He plans to return next Friday to pursue the revival effort.
Senator W. A. McCullough left Wednesday with Mrs. McCullough for the General Assembly in Indianapolis. The senator will attend the session starting Thursday while his wife stays in the city.

Waldo W. Becker died in France on Oct 18 1918 after illness of flu and pneumonia. He arrived in New York on Dec 14 and was received at Chrisney on Saturday Jan 1. His funeral Sunday morning was at the German Evangelical church in Centerville, conducted by Rev Kristian Emigholtz of Clay City. The burial was under the auspices of the Chrisney K P and Jenkins Legion Post, Becker a member.
Miss Myrtle Posey was ill this week and Miss Katherine Huff attended several classes. George Wells, class of 1920, visited Tuesday. A stereopticon funded by the 1920 senior play debuted in the Christmas musical. Pupils’ weights are being recorded by Supt. Diehl this week. Six girls joined the Red Cross nursing class, a 15 lesson course led by Miss Florence Mahatha.
Mr and Mrs Fred Hodge announce the arrival of a son. Mrs Hodge was in Walker's sanitarium in Evansville. Mrs Hodge is the daughter of Joseph McAdams former deputy sheriff of this county.
