Shrode of this county now in Idaho reports the irrigated region as a future farming hub. He grew thousands of bushels this year, with 800 bushels per acre on several acres and a price of 40 cents per bushel, predicting the west’s potat o growth. Fred Wilbern of Mt. Doctors amputate leg above ankle after city streetcar crash
Park, a deaf man from this city, was struck on Main Street by a traction car at 11:24 am near Kanzler's shop. The left foot was crushed, requiring an amputation midway between knee and ankle. Drs. Baumgaertner Weiss and Ehrman performed the operation and Park is expected to recover barring complications.

Rockport Receives Free Mail Delivery Switch
Free mail delivery was instituted in Rockport on January first after efforts by Congressman Charles Lieb. Mail Inspector A C Garrigus arrived from Evansville to set up routes with carriers R J Kennedy for the north side and Louis H Kreuger for the south. The first day saw crowds, ecards reading vacated and carriers learning duties as three daily trips began in business and residential areas. Patrons were urged to use street numbers as carriers steady up equipment and routes.
