At a Friday meeting the County Board of Education voted 10 to 2 to employ W. J. Piggott as county agent. Five hundred dollars had been donated earlier, but approval awaited war demand and federal funding. John G. Rimstidt will cover expenses above 700 dollars yearly. Piggott, a Kentucky agricultural school graduate, begins a one year term and is praised by Purdue.

Grass township approves improved roads project by wide margin
Grass township voters backed a road plan by 238 to 94. The eight mile system runs from south of Chrisney through the town to its north line, west six miles and south one mile near Midway. Estimated cost about 40 960 dollars with lift near 44 000. Roads to have rock base gravel surface and clay for packing.

Young Soldier Ferguson Dies at Camp Taylor
Lyman Ferguson age 22 among Spencer county soldier boys died last Saturday at Camp Taylor from mastoiditis after surgery. Body shipped to Lamar and taken to grandmother Mrs. James Curry home. Funeral held Tuesday at Union Chapel with six Camp Taylor pallbearers including Robert Vote and Ray Wenner. He was step-brother of Basil Chapman who died recently at Camp Shelby.
