County Auditor Office Changes Hands and Will Adjust Roles
The County Auditor’s office changed hands last Monday with A. B. Branch resigning the unexpired term of J. F. Stocking and Anderson Parker succeeding until January 1, 1920. Branch will focus on merchandising. Parker’s deputy is Henry J. Vawter. John W. Crooks remains until tax settlements with the county treasurer are complete. The will of Henry Nielander Sr. of Harrison township was recorded, naming Carolina W. Nielander executrix. A circuit court typo misread J. H. Parkhurst as J. H. Parker. a correction is issued to clarify Parker’s non-involvement.

Red Cross Seeks Funds and Volunteers for Child Welfare
The Spencer County Red Cross appeals for funds to extend child welfare. Nurses or physicians are urged in each school district to examine and care for children. Members are asked to renew dues and meet next Tuesday at 7 30 p m. The public may attend the Executive Board meeting. Knitters are needed for socks and sweaters with garments completed promptly and yarn kept no longer than a month. Clothing donations for civilian relief are accepted at the Red Cross shop and some clothing will be repaired.

Mr and Mrs Howard Mitchell and their two sons are improving after severe influenza. Dr and Mrs G J Smith and children left Tuesday for their new home in Hammond Ind. Edgar Miller and family moved to Clyde Brown’s Main street property. A defective flue caused a fire Saturday afternoon at Watson Jones’s home on N Hight street with slight damage.

Ernest Scott Atkinson, who volunteered in December 1913, was killed Monday in a motorcycle crash at Camp Arcadia, California. He leaves a brother and a half sister in Evansville. Mrs Helen Cantrell, formerly Miss Helen Schumacher of Spencer county, died November 21 in Gore Oklahoma of influenza, leaving a husband and three children, plus relatives near Joplin and in Viana.

Obituary for John P. Higenmann of Rockport
John P. Higenmann died Wednesday evening at 8 15 at his Rockport home after a two year illness. A paralytic stroke at 4 30 Wednesday afternoon left him unconscious for about four hours. He was 47 and survived by his wife a son a daughter his mother and three brothers. The funeral will be held from the Main Street home Friday afternoon at late o clock.

Mrs. Sallie M. Greenwalt born May 4 1856 died November 28 1918 after an eighteen month illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church conducted by Rev J M Daniel. Interment followed at Sunset Hill. She is survived by husband Noah H Greenwalt five daughters and two sons.

Death of Mrs. Sarah Luckado in Ohio Township
Mrs. Sarah Luckado died at 10 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Scott Miller in Ohio township on the Eureka road. She was 78, a daughter of David Harker, a county pioneer, after two years of failing health. The funeral will be held at Shiloh at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
