Rockport High School will hold its commencement at the auditorium Friday May 28 at eight o'clock. Hon. Roscoe Kiper will deliver the address on The Artistic Ordering of Life. The program features the student essays and music from the school.
The circuit court docket includes a dismissal of Rose Carlisle versus Ernest Damron after an out of court compromise, a divorce for McClellan Bunner from Della Bunner with costs paid and a two year no remarry term, and trial setting for Alice Stateville versus William Ellis et al. Other items cover withdrawals, pleas, fines, and guardianship reports with inventories, balances and approvals.
The Farmer's Bank sues Charles F. Squier to recover 304.77 on a note endorsed by Rockport Box Manufacturing Co. William B. Sallee petitions to appoint a guardian for Samuel F. Sallee, alleged of unsound mind. Emanuel Fry sues Hettie Fry for divorce on adultery charges. James Houston files suit to recover on a claim against the estate of Emily E. Kitchen.
Dr. Shoptaugh's buggy horse bolted Wednesday evening near West Main street by the electric depot. The animal jumped main street ditches, crossed a railroad, then sped two blocks on the pavement before stopping at Willis Haines's corner. The buggy was smashed. the doctor sustained minor bruises.
A musical recital is set for Friday afternoon April 30 at the Auditorium starting at 1 25 o clock. Admission is free. Pupils from all grades and the first two years of high school will perform. The program lists grade order from Seventh and Eighth through to High School with an intermission.

COMPLIMENTS ROCKPORT J D Reeves Owensboro Sewer Pipe Co was here Wednesday. Reeves praised Rockport noting more concrete sidewalks than Owensboro given town sizes. He called the pavements the best he has seen and singled out the broad Main street pavements for commendation.

A large observance took place last Monday as members of the Odd Fellows honored the 90th anniversary of their order with a community celebration. The event highlighted historic milestones and shared fellowship among attendees.

The Huntingburg city council will establish a nine day impoundment for dogs found running at large. The ordinance bans nuisance howling vicious dogs at large and on streets and sidewalks. It also prohibits dog fights and poisoning with penalties up to twenty five dollars plus costs.
Governor Marshall in a Washington interview argues the next Democratic platform will hinge on a tariff for revenue. He urges removing business from politics and vice versa so tariffs are scientifically set for revenue only, noting a national shift toward this view.

The Clay township Sunday school convention is set for May 1 at Buffaloville M E church. Afternoon program begins 1 30 with song and prayer and recitations on Our greatest need and how to meet it. Dr. E D Ehrman traveled to Byane ville Friday to see his wife who is in Walker sanitarium. He had just returned from Meritage Indiana where she received treatment. She shows some improvement at this time.

The tests referenced Aguinaldo and the stand pat motto linked to Mark Hanna, while a male candidate claimed the spoils system began with Thomas Jefferson and denoted a shift in fashion from knee pants to long pants.
The Fortieth Anniversary service will be hosted by the people who were involved at the church's dedication. Living board members and a building committee member will attend. The Elm street home of Mrs. Ann Hall is under extensive repairs. Thomas Stateville holds the contract to lay a new foundation and raise the house about three feet.
The opening game of the season was played Sunday afternoon between Rockport and Fair. It was an eleven inning contest with Rockport winning 8 to 7.
Evansville will host Creatore and his band at Summit Park with matinee and night performances. This will be the last appearance of the celebrated leader and his organization in Evansville, according to managers Sweeton and Raymond.
The Democrats of the senate back an income tax amendment to the tariff bill and a tax on stock exchange transactions. They argue many rich pay little toward government while workers bear the burden. They call for a broader tax on all speculative grain trading to curb gambling. The failure to act reflects poorly on self-government.
The Spencer county Sunday school convention will be held at the M. E. church in this city Thursday May 13. An interesting program has been arranged and a large attendance is expected.
F W Krieger and family return from El Paso to Rockport for Mrs. Krieger health. She was taken to her mother's home near Grandview and remains in a very critical condition.
Mr and Mrs Guy Walker will attend a T P A convention in Evansville on Friday. The program includes an excursion on the Ohio River aboard the Steamer John 8 Hopkins and a Saturday evening entertainment at the ladies home.
The National Monthly, a new magazine by Norman E Mack of Buffalo NY, will publish its first issue around May 1 dated for May. It aims to teach democratic doctrine via leading Democrats and features a color picture of Monticello and Jefferson. Subscriptions are $1 a year.
