Bridges and Levees Funded for 32 New Structures County plans many concrete arches

County commissioners toured townships approving requests for thirty two bridges and two levees totaling 26175 dollars. Projects span Luce Ohio Hammond Huff Harrison Jackson Grass Clay and Carter with most bridges concrete arches. A repair on Metz Sargent Bridge and levee widening at Sandy Creek in Hammond are included, others cover Pigeon Switch bridge, maintenance shifts at the orphan's home, and multiple legal actions.

Cecil Williams Escapes City Lockup Again

A man identified as Cecil Williams broke free from city custody by breaking off the jail lock, escaping from confinement and prompting a renewed manhunt. Local officials tightened security and searched nearby streets and alleys for the suspect.

Prisoner Escapes from City Lockup Then Re-Captured

Cecil Williams who pled guilty to grand larceny and was to be sent to the reformatory escaped from the city lockup Monday afternoon using a leg from his cot to break the lock. He was found late Tuesday at his home east of Richland City and returned to jail. Williams and Robert Whitten were later moved to Jeffersonville to serve their terms.

Valparaiso University Announces Summer Terms

Valparaiso University Indiana will start its summer term May 18 and mid summer term June 15. Students may begin at either date and study twelve weeks. The school is accredited for preparing teachers for all classes A B and C. The institution is prosperous, building new facilities, expanding studies, and holding steady tuition. Representatives come from every county in the state, from every state and territory, and from foreign countries. It is worthy of liberal patronage.

Ernie Woods Faces New Jail Term on Threat Charge

Ernie Woods, previously convicted of malicious trespass with a $150 fine and six months in jail, has remained jailed since last Saturday on a peace bond filed by J. W. Burns. New Office Typewriter Considered by Auditors Board
