A 1913 Indiana law sets registration with the Secretary of State for most vehicles, assigns numbers and plates, and imposes license fees by horsepower. It details transfers, chauffeur licensing, age limits, violations with fines up to 500 dollars, and speed limits varying by zone, plus a revenue split among counties.
William Lee died Wednesday morning at his North Rockport home at age 61. Funeral services were held Thursday at the United Brothers church, with Rev. S. L. Todd officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Hill cemetery. He was born in Mississippi and survived by his wife, formerly Rachael Bridges. Formerly a fireman at the electric light plant, he fell ill in February with diabetes, then gangrene led to amputation and death.
Frank Kincaid of this city, agent for Inter Southern Life Co, earned first prize for largest volume on the premium plan tied to 224000. He also won for most applications on the annual premium plan but could not claim a second prize. the award then went to W L Sieuhens of Owensboro Kentucky.
The last day of school at Rose Hill school was observed with a noon dinner for many patrons. An afternoon program followed. Teachers Mr and Mrs F A Pierson received a silver butter dish and salt and pepper shaker as tokens of esteem. The Piersons and Mr and Mrs Faris Hammond plan to move to Oregon to settle their future home.
A birthday dinner was hosted at the home of Mr and Mrs Abe Wright in the county last Monday for Mr Wrights 70th birthday. About sixty eight relatives attended and enjoyed an excellent dinner. The afternoon featured music and speeches with Rockport attendees including Mrs S H Jenning and daughter Miss Florence Miss Margaret James Mrs Henry Ellis Miss Puss Wright and Mrs S C Lang.
