Nuetzel's Jazz Orchestra plus Fred Van Audler and Walter Green provided music as the new 82 by 140 foot facility on Third Street showcased show rooms, stock rooms, offices, and an upstairs repair shop served by an elevator and a steam heating system. Richards and Kincaid are local Buick and Ford auto dealers.

Donation Supports Spencer County Anti-Tuberculosis Society

Dr. J. D. McKenney of Miami Florida writes to Mr. W. W. Kellams in Rockport Indiana about a county fund drive. He encloses a twenty five dollar check for the Spencer County Anti-Tuberculosis Society and urges others to contribute.

Burke couple leaves Rockport for Des Moines

J. S. Burke has disposed of his office to Dr. E. F. Matejka and will relocate with Mrs. Burke to Des Moines Iowa. The couple were estimable residents who made many friends in Rockport and are missed as they depart.

Mrs Salm Visits West Baden Over Rev. Daniel’s Condition

Mrs. Charles Salm traveled to West Baden Tuesday after a telegram from Mrs. J. M. Daniel about the serious condition of Rev. Daniel, who had been ill for some time. A Thursday letter from Mrs. Salm says he is no better.

Post Office to be Moved in Rockport

The Rockport post office, housed for fifty years, is sold to Rockport Water Works Co. and will be moved into the Lieb building at Third and Main. Lieb leases space from his building for the post office and will install new fixtures. Removals are scheduled for mid summer and will trigger other building changes.

Knights of Pythias Visit Tell City Lodge Initiates Two

Twenty five Knights of Pythias from this county chartered the Elk lodge last Wednesday and traveled to Tell City. Two candidates were initiated with J. F. Bauman of Rockport lodge playing a key role. Ex Mayor Fred Heinzle gave the welcome address, echoed by Senator W. A. McCullough for Spencer County Knights, and a banquet followed the ceremony.

Owensboro High Beats Rockport Scouts 15 to 10

Owensboro High School defeated Rockport scouts 15 to 10 in Friday night action. The office will be staffed 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. starting now for school communications. Tuesday physics class toured the electric light plant straw board and ice factory to study practical science.

A devastating blaze struck the main business block of Chrisney. Fire officials report damages exceeding 45 008 dollars with partial insurance compensation, leaving several shops heavily damaged and under evaluation for reconstruction.

A Sunday night blaze in Chrisney destroyed about a quarter of the town's best business block on Main Street, with estimated losses around 45,000 dollars. The fire originated in the basement of E. R. Cutler’s restaurant and spread rapidly in gale force west winds, damaging the Chrisney Doyle General Store and Jones dry goods, while Rev. Magee’s hotel was saved by volunteer firemen. Organize Base Ball Club Forms at Basham Shop

Young baseball enthusiasts met last Sunday at the Basham barber shop to organize for the season. James Poole was elected manager and Clayton Hargis secretary and treasurer as the team aims to become a top amateur squad in the region. The diamond will be at Rockport fair ground with the first try-out next Sunday afternoon.

Rockport fair grounds improve with new stalls and lake

The Rockport fair ground management employs workers to grade repair and improve the grounds and build many new stalls. Plans include beautifying the area with a small lake to the northeast of the grand stand near the east entrance. The annual fair is scheduled for August 25 to 28.
