Engineer Hazelrigg Completes Owensboro Rockport Line Study
Consulting engineer E H Hazelrigg of Indianapolis completed inspection of the Owensboro and Rockport Terminal Bridge line between the two cities and left for Indianapolis to prepare a prospectus. He reviewed two routes and believes the line can be built as a paying investment after gathering tonnage data from local manufacturers and merchants. The railroad would grant Owensboro a direct northern connection and improve its access to northern rates.

Widow Clara Buck Dies at 73 in Evansville
Mrs Clara Buck widow of Prof Buck died at her daughter Mrs T R Queen’s home in Evansville at 1245 AM. Her remains were brought home by traction car for service and burial at Sunset Hill cemetery. Survived by four children including Mrs John Hanson New York City and Colburn Buck St Louis. Prof Buck, a former leading musician here, also deceased.

Fire destroys home of Chas Salm on 3rd Street
A fire last Saturday at eight o clock badly damaged the residence of Chas Salm on 3rd Street. The blaze started in an upstairs closet and spread quickly, leaving only the roof frame. contents were largely destroyed, and Miss Sis Cotton, living with the Salm family, suffered heavy losses. The house and contents were insured.

Burglar Arrested After North Rockport Restaurant Burglary
Robert Whitten, a young white man from North Rockport, was arrested by Marshal Tom Ellis for burgarizing George Stateville’s restaurant on 5th Street last Monday night. He appeared before Squire Jones, posted no bond of $500, and remains jailed awaiting the April term of court.

Leonard B. Clore of Franklin Indiana has been invited by the Russian government to travel to Russia for three years to instruct their farmers in American corn growing. He is to be paid four thousand dollars annually plus expenses. Clore is widely recognized as a leading corn raiser with top honors from Paris Buffalo Chicago St Louis world fairs and the Omaha corn show last December. He won the grand sweepstakes at Omaha earning the American Corn Growers association prize. The national corn show took place in Chicago in October at the Coliseum.
