Mrs Myrtle Parsley Earp wife of Joseph Earp died last Sunday night by drowning in a cistern at her farm near Cross Roads. Miss Antoinette Mosley sister of Merrill Atkinson is recovering from a sleeping illness. She was staying at the home of Phillip Atkinson in Chrisney when she fell asleep Tuesday noon and could not be awakened by supper or midnight Wednesday. A physician was called but efforts to arouse her failed until mid night Wednesday. The sleeping spell was caused by nervous system conditions and she had left Indiana University last semester due to nervous trouble.

Fire Destroys Henry Hoch Home on Main Street
A blaze started around 3:30 PM Tuesday at Henry Hoch’s two story residence at 523 Main Street. The roof caught from the flue and the fire was hard to control. building damage around 2500 with 1800 insured. Mrs Hoch and Mrs Wilbern were in an downstairs room when firefighters arrived. most household goods were saved but upstairs clothing and furnishings suffered water and fire damage. The nearby Honig residence avoided total loss with 500 in damages from fire and water.
