Kilgo Denounces Ballrooms as Threat to Church Spirit
Staunton Va March 27 Bishop Kilgo told the Baltimore Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South no church can keep the Spirit if it harbors ballroom artists or drinkers in its choir or in official positions. The conference, meeting in Staunton, voted against renaming the church and heard Kilgo urge temperance, while Dr James Cannon Jr and Dr B W Bond debated stance and Virginia’s push for local prohibition.
