Deadline Set For Rock Valley Council Elections
The Rock Valley City Clerk says the filing deadline for mayor and five council seats is September 27. All six offices will be settled in the November 5 election with terms set to begin in 1975 under a new staggered plan. Current mayor is John Kerzbergen. Nomination period runs Sept 2 to Sept 27. Names listed include Dwayne Bauder Weber Burgers Robert Kaufman John Kempeman and Magice Van Voorst.

Negaard And Anderson Win In Big Voter Turnout
A large turnout on September 41 produced the election of Stanley Negaard and W C Anderson to three year terms on the Rock Valley Community School board. A total of 856 valid ballots were cast after 7 spoiled ballots. Negaard defeated George Van Beek 534 to 320 for the seat south of Highway 18 while Anderson won the seat south of Fifteenth Street with 764 votes. Anderson is the current board member and Negaard, a former teacher, resides 33 miles west of Rock Valley with his wife Mary and four children. He urged expanded para professional use and broader curriculum for non college bound students. Anderson emphasized continued focus on good education and proper facilities. he is vice president of Valley State Bank and a native of Dean.

A weekly cash prize of 575 dollars is announced after Vernon Bahnson of Inwood failed to attend the drawing last Thursday night. The event, sponsored by four group of Rock Valley merchants, requires shoppers in participating stores by 8:30 PM to witness the envelope opening and announce the winner.

Sioux County Supervisors Approve Pay Adjustments
The Sioux County Board of Supervisors in Orange City approved salary changes in a Tuesday session. The county engineer staff will not receive a raise while road maintenance workers will receive up to 50 dollars a month, effective September 1, due to perceived need.
