Obituary for Mrs. Jake Solsma 84 in Hull region service held

Mrs. Jake Selena Punerat obituary notes Mrs. Jake Solsma, 84, died Wednesday at home. Services were 1 p.m. at home and 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Jehub in Hull. Born in The Netherlands, she came to the United States 20 years ago. Survivors include her widow and two daughters Mrs. John T Smit of Hull and Mrs. Henry Riemersma of Matlock, plus nine stepchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs Muilenburg held at Orange City

Muuvenburg Funeral services for Mrs Dick Muilenburg, 61, who died after months of illness, were held Thursday afternoon at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City with Reverend Charles Boonstra officiating. Survivors include her husband, a son Ivan, a daughter Mrs Allen Rops of Orange City, and another daughter Mrs Keith De Jong of Grand Haven Michigan. Mrs De Jong had cared for her mother. She and Mr De Jong plan to depart for India soon.

The 1956 soybean loan rate in Sioux County will be 212 per bushel, 1 cent above last year, per ASC chairman John B. Draager. National average 2.15 per bushel equals 75 percent of parity. 1955 national average 2.04 per bushel equals 70 percent. Loans or purchase agreements available. other 1956 crop supports listed: corn 1.17, oats 0.61, flaxseed .11, grain sorghum 1.91 per cwt, rye 1.16 per bushel.

Municipal Pool Season Ends Amid Cold Snap

The municipal pool season at Hock Rapids closed after a cooler weekend. Officials say attendance was down from last year due to colder weather but expect a good income over expenses. Plans include a concession island south of the current stands to improve operations next year.

Weather Modification Exhibit Opens at Clay County Fair

Young Soldier from Hull Arrives in Germany

Bernard Driesen son of Mr and Mrs Hart Driesen Route 2 Hock Valley recently arrived in Germany and serves as a radio operator in the 595th Signal Support Company of the 39th Battalion, 160th Signal Group. He entered the army last February after basic training at Fort Chaffee Ark and is a 1955 graduate of Western Christian High School in Hull.

Weekend visits and a fatal tractor accident in Doon

Mrs Lilian Keith joined a Sunday dinner in Little Rock at the White McAuley home and the FP Lehman residence hosted guests over the weekend. A tractor overturn killed six year old Michael Van Arion who was riding as a passenger. the driver escaped injury.
