Pioneer Herman Wilts Dies at 82 in Le Mars

Herman Wilts a longtime resident and pioneer of the Rock Valley area died at his Le Mars home last Friday after a brief illness. He was eighty two and had moved to Le Mars in 1908 with his family from a farm south of Rock Valley. He married Mary Johnson in 1868 and leaves three daughters, Tenz, Katherine, and Mrs. Wilts, at home.

Tragic Drowning of Elmer Seans Near Coryden town

Elmer Seans, seven, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, drowned Tuesday afternoon while wading in a river about fifteen minutes from town. Friends and relatives gathered as Dr Thuvengs and Franklin Buinea assisted, but rescue attempts failed. Elmer, born October 7, 1917 in Rock Valley, left parents and a brother Willard. funeral services were held at home and burial followed in Coryden Town, with many expressing sympathy.

Richard Polk Dies at Rapid City

An 11 year old boy, Richard Polk, son of Miz and Mrs. Polk, died at Rapid City hospital last Wednesday the 19th. His funeral was held Saturday at 2 PM from the Polk home, with burial in Mt. Hope. Rev. E. J. Fish led the service as a large gathering mourned the loss after a long struggle with illness. The record notes he had not been very strong since age six, suffering a severe bout of illness and failing health.
