Crazy Days and City Farmer Day Arrive in Rock Valley
Rock Valley hosts Crazy Days and City Farmer Appreciation Day this Friday September 2. Merchants set early 8:00 a.m. sales on Main Street with bargains while a free city park meal from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. honors shoppers and local farmers. Injured Work Trainee in Rock Valley Car Pedestrian Crash
James Nelson a 34 year old client at Hope Haven Work Training Center was injured in a car pedestrian crash near the Rock Valley bridge Friday morning. He was taken to Rock Valley hospital for observation with bruises and abrasions after reportedly stepping into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Mrs Modse Van Beek who tried to avoid him. The highway patrol and local police investigated the incident.

Alvord Youth Dies In Car Train Accident
Chris Schnepf, 19, of Alvord, died Wednesday in a car train crash three miles north of Alvord when his pickup collided with a Burlington Northern freight train at a crossing. He was dead on arrival at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids. Services were held August 27 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood. Survivors include his parents, three brothers, a sister, and two grandmothers.
