City Council OKs funds for summer recreation and waters system bid
The council approved 1200 for this year's summer recreation program, up from 500 last year, and awarded Valley Plumbing and Heating a 2854.75 bid for city hall plumbing work. Rock Valley Names Meylink Summer Recreation Director
At a regular meeting the Rock Valley Summer Recreation Committee elected Arnold Post as president and named Stan Negaard secretary Donna Tyler as secretary and Harlan Kempema as treasurer. Dave Meylink was chosen as summer program director with a six week salary of 600 dollars and will supervise coaching for boys baseball boys softball and girls softball along with Ron Van Berkum.

Plans for Drug Store in Rock Valley Unveiled
Plans to remodel the former Looking Glass building in Rock Valley into a drug store were revealed last week. Ed Scher, now in California, owns the building and aims to sell it to Clarence Vander Sanden who farms near Inwood. Vander Sanden plans to pass the property to his son in law Delbert Knobloch, a recent pharmacy graduate, who will take Iowa State Board exams the first week of June.
