Health and Citizenship Camps Open to Youths Nationwide
Uncle Sam invites 40 000 young Americans aged seventeen to twenty four to free month long health and citizenship camps this summer. Camps emphasize outdoor life, athletic training, and leadership under Army officers, with no obligation for future service. The program traces to 1913 and Plattsburg, aims to build manhood and civic responsibility across diverse regions.

Ethiopia: Unconquered Plateau and Feudal Rulers
Prepared by the National Geographic Society, this piece surveys Ethiopia’s isolation on its high plateau, its enduring monarchy under Ras Tafari, and its feudal system. It describes the people as warlike yet dignified, Amharic as the main tongue, and notes Orthodox Christian tradition, vast landscapes, and limited foreign contact. It highlights the Queen of Sheba legends, regional tribes, and the nyala antelope.
