The Sioux County court record lists marriages, guardianships, and estate actions including Raymond Nyhof and Frieda Wessels marriage license, several guardianships for Alice Charlebonne and BrieH Hirt, and the approval of distribution reports. It notes judgments, tax payments, and estate closings for multiple cases including Heemstra, De Zeeuw, Lam bertson, and others, plus a divorce granted in Meylink v Meylink.
A Roelofs died after a long life that included time in Orange and Michigan. Survived by wife six brothers and sisters, with deep esteem shown by friends. Funeral services to be held at home at 1 30 pm and at First Reformed church Rock Valley at 2 pm Thursday.
A special Rock Valley School Board meeting elected John Gorzemar of Hull as junior high teacher and athletics assistant. Gorzemar currently teaches in Boyden, praised for his work. Leslie Davisson was re elected as faculty for another term. All teachers anticipate next year. a new school building slated for September promises progress.

A fire at the Martin Bonthuis farm south of the city limits damaged a brooder house and burned 550 young chicks placed there days earlier. The blaze was reported around noon after the alarm was sounded in sunlight. The loss was total.
Mr and Mrs Walter Hynes entertained Saturday for Mr and Mrs C C Jorcan of Signs City who were week end guests in the Hynes home.
Hugo Beyer announces Sunday school and Bible class at 9 30 and 10 30 German preaching. Ladies Aid slate details for next week with Mas Baldwin and Mrs Van Dried on entertainment. Lutheran Brotherhood meets next Wednesday with Rev Guetzlaff speaking on work. Gayer Moeller and Lange serve. Teachers training Friday at 8 and confirmation Saturday. Luther League Convention planned at Pierson Town Sunday with 3 PM program and new meeting. many members expected.
John Meendering and his son Jacob captured a fox den near their home after a halt digging effort. Three young fox pups were found, two were killed while one remained as a pet. The mother fox previously trapped at the den mouth was recaptured next morning. A pheasant, rabbits, and several squirrels and mice were found in the den with no chickens nearby.
Members of Starlight Chapter UEK S met in the hall Monday evening for a regular gathering. The business session was followed by a social hour with Mrs. Lee Schleety and Mrs. H W Jacobs as hostesses, who served a fine lunch.
Rev. J. A. Kettle attended a large Methodist conclave in Kansas City last week Friday and Saturday marking the union of Methodists worldwide into a single organization. Wim. Bowen joined Rev. Kettle to Sioux City for part of the trip.
From Sioux County, students competed in an interstate spelling contest in Sioux City last Friday with Dick Moor Postma Lenora Van Winena Ge Ruyter Névina De Vries Jennie Brands Margaret Van Maanen Dor othy De Jong Henrietta Bliek Rena Brands Anne Marie Kempema Harold Van Otterloo John De Ruyter Athertha Haima Alyce Bajema Joann De Jong among participants. Several girls represented Sioux County, performed ably though not medalists.
A summary of weekly school happenings across grades notes perfect attendance in first grade, a May Day candy treat, a second grade surprise party with decorative cakes and napkins, a Thursday hike to the viaduct and an Oriole nest sighting, and Friday story writing. Fourth graders excelled in spelling and arithmetic with many 100s, and a long division study progressed. The class chart rose to excellent, and a surprise fruit shower occurred.
The fifth grade has elected officers with Jack Frembgen as president, Bob Rielly as vice president, John Young as secretary, and Horace Hegg as reporter. The class is practicing book binding in art class this week with Horace Hege serving as reporter.
Six grade contestants Joyce Davisson and Bertha Ver Wey produced perfect spelling papers on Friday. The class schedules a Mothers Day program Friday May 12 at 2 30 in the high school assembly. All are invited.
Seventh grade pupils gave special reports on the traditions of China and Japan. They elected officers: James Davisson as president Caristine Egeleston as vice president Eldora Kersbergen as secretary treasurer and Donald Jacobs as reporter.

The tom Tiger play presented Thursday and Friday drew strong praise from cast, sponsors, and director. Friday night the senior class and faculty were hosted at the Relander home for lunch and school songs, while a Western Union College representative spoke to seniors about Le Mars campus activities. Rock Valley beat Hull 13 to 1 behind sophomore Clayton Schouten on the mound, with catcher Harold DeGraaff and a junior-heavy lineup.
The Good Will truck will collect bags in Rock Valley on the morning of May 11. Donations of shoes clothing furniture and household articles are appreciated. Contact a secretary in this issue to arrange pickup and ensure the truck stops for your contribution.
Mr. and Mrs. John Rielly hosted the Rock township farm bureau joint card party marking the season end. Both men and women gathered for cards and a social evening. Glenn Berson held the high score among the players.
Mina Jongewaard, a missionary to India, will speak at the First Reform Church on Friday May 12 at 7:45 PM. The event is under the Torch Bearers of the conference aiding foreign missions and welcomes the public.
