Hegg Memorial Hospital drive aims to erase debt
Rock Valley residents are asked to contribute $150,000 on May 4 to wipe out the hospital debt of about $80,000 and cover losses from declining patient numbers. Hospital president Tit Boogerd warns that failure could drive doctors away and reduce local services for Valley Manor and Hope Haven while increasing travel for care.

Minor Injuries In Car Accident Near Rock Valley
Six people sustained minor injuries Saturday when a car driven by Lenora De Wit of Doon went out of control and rolled into a ditch north of Rock Valley. Passengers Vicki Vande Kamp Shori Van Ginkel LaVonne De Wit Kathy Vande Kamp Glenda Driesen sustained various injuries. Mrs De Wit had head lacerations. All were released after basic treatment. State trooper Bill Miller investigated.

Sioux County Names Landfill Committee Members
Sioux County Mayor John Kersber and Dale Den Herder of Sioux Center along with Jr. Siebersma of Orange City were chosen for a county committee at a county league meeting. The group will seek a fair payment formula for the tri county landfill planned near Hospers with a proposed 200 acre site and operation next year. Obrian Osceola and Sioux Counties join in the project.
