A 12625 federal grant to Iowa will help Hawarden purchase 220 acres for public recreation with the city matching funds. The deal includes 600 acres of water near the Big Sioux River in Sioux County. State Conservation Commission spokesman notes Spirit Lake walleyes last month averaged heavier than the rest of the year. Fishermen reported an estimated 24,566 walleyed pike from Big Spirit during the 1966 67 season totaling 34,567 pounds, about 1.4 pounds per fish.
Town court fines for improper parking and street violations
The town fined several residents from Rock Valley Sioux Center Doon and nearby for improper parking bottles on the street milling on main street speed violations and careless driving. Mounting fines ranged from 5 to 20 dollars plus costs with a few $1.00 penalties noted. Vinks In Mishap While On Trip Near Enid Oklahoma
Mr and Mrs Al Vink escaped injury in a two car crash near Enid Oklahoma on Sunday night They had visited their son Lt Gerald Vink at the air base and were returning home The mishap was caused when a woman pulled onto the highway directly in front of the Vinks new 1967 Caprice Damages totaled 906 for the Vink car and 500 for the other car The woman was cited by the highway patrol The Vinks believe seat belts saved them as required by Oklahoma law Their return home was delayed two days by the accident.
