High School Notes Report Sales and Attendance

The High School sold Country Gentlemen with three groups Orange Green Reds totaling 71 dollars. Green won by 32 to 21 over Orange and Reds 15.35. Thirty five and two half dollars go to athletic debt. Boys lost at Sioux County Tournament. Report cards issued, parents urged to review and return. Attendance percentages range from 92 to 98.83 across grades.

Joe Wattawa Involved In Damaging Car Accident

Joe Wattawa suffered a severe vehicle mishap Monday afternoon when the car rolled forward after his ear became caught in gear. The vehicle struck the depot platform, pinning him briefly before bystanders stopped it. He was taken to Rock Valley Hospital with internal injuries thought mild. he is improving. Wattawa had just stopped at a Cine Oil station for gasoline prior to the incident. He apparently failed to apply the brake or engage the clutch before stepping away.

Legion notes reveal leadership changes and new broadcasts

The American Legion notes report that Auxiliary membership reaches 100 percent in two districts, with Te nique's tie to the state convention. Frank OPMi, a Sioux County Legionaire, received a letter announcing James Barton’s appointment as national adjutant to begin April 1, with March 15 set for appointing his successor. A new National Weekly feature lists department and post radio broadcasts, and Bernard Hoxmier says the county meeting will be held about a week after Easter.

Farm Bureau Plans Another Wolf Hunt

The Washington Township Farm Bureau schedules a second wolf hunt for March 10 after a prior attempt failed. The planned territory spans about twenty five miles starting a mile south of Hawarden where wolves have been numerous in recent weeks, prompting farmers to seek extermination if possible.

Used Guns Too Freely Frighten Neighbors

Cornelius Vander Syde, a young farmer near Lepha Holland, was arrested last Thursday after neighbors reported his indiscriminate use of firearms. He pled guilty to disturbing the peace and was fined $25 with costs, which were remitted on good behavior. He must surrender his guns until he obtains a hunter’s license and a permit from the sheriff. Vander Syde previously served as a sharpshooter in the Holland army before emigrating to America.

1925 wallpaper styles at Pember's for sale
