Injured In Head-On Collision Near Rock Valley
Friday afternoon a head-on crash two miles southwest of Rock Valley left two drivers hospitalized with serious injuries. Ray Brunsting of Rock Valley sustained multiple broken ribs and a leg fracture, while Arnold Schoelerman of Lebanon was treated for cuts and bruises and released Saturday. The 1970 Chevrolet and 1987 Ford were totaled after colliding on a gravel crest. Police chief Tow De Bruln and Trooper Paul Biederman cited both drivers for failure to yield half the roadway.

Mary Keel and Dick Bajema wed March 2 1816 in Rock Valley and farmed locally before retirement to Rock Valley. Mrs Bajema attended school while Mr Bajema studied in Sioux Center.

RV In the Dark For Hour Friday
City of Hock Valley suffered a near hour long blackout Friday evening as sleet broke a transmission line near the substation two miles southeast of town. Wine service dropped at 7 p.m. and was restored about an hour later. Poor roads and breaker malfunctions extended the outage. PS technicians from Storm Lake inspected and replaced breakers on Saturday.
