Fatality at Doon after two-vehicle crash
Henry Kriege 84 of Emmetsburg died Monday evening from injuries sustained in a two vehicle collision at the Doon corner on Highway 18. Patrolman Anderson and Deputy Sheriff Abels report Kriege pulled onto the Dean blacktop from the south. His car and a truck driven by Howard Smit of Hull left the road and overturned. both drivers were taken to Hep Memorial Hospital with Smit’s condition unavailable.

Camp at Jaycee Camp for the Handicapped near Shook Falls drew all enrolled participants plus six workers from the work training center. At Luther College Kimin J Hamann and Mark Liaboe both of Rock Valley attend an NS Sponsored Student Science Training Program for pre college study. A total of 28 high school students participate at Lews School affiliated with the American Lutheran Church. The program runs June 14 to July 24 for 11th grade students with focus on biological central themes including metabolism protein synthesis photosynthesis growth and community interaction.

2 Car Collision on 17th Street
The Rock Valley police report a two car accident on 17th Street. Mrs. Lewis Roode waited to turn left when Gerrit A. Bakker of Hull struck her rear. Damages totaled 100 dollars for the Chevrolet and 200 for the Ford. No injuries reported. Bakker cited for failure to maintain clear distance.

Rock Valley area car crash report and probationary ministry student
A single vehicle crash occurred four miles east and one mile north of Rock Valley on Wednesday when Mrs Jimi Den Boer lost control on a gravel road, the car tipping into a ditch after brakes locked. No injuries were reported and the 1969 Chevrolet Nomad suffered about $200 in damage. Miss Tamilason, a United Methodist Pastor’s daughter, will complete a ten week parish experience in the area before moving to Manchester Iowa on July 11 to work with a pastor there staying with local hosts in Hessel J Roorda WE Ballard and J Roger Smith homes.
