Rock Valley Bee Reports Rural Road Deterioration in Iowa
William Larrabee of Fayette Iowa son of a former governor says roads between his farm and Postville nine miles apart were impassable for days last spring with gravel roads in poor condition for heavy traffic. He notes similar conditions on other gravel roads in the region and states that dairying is both popular and profitable there. He also mentions his prior service in the legislature.

Highway Design Aims to Prevent Skidding and Improve Drainage
The plan extends from Arete Center to Glinton through the Ti dian reservation in Tama county. It proposes a rough surface to reduce skidding when wet and adds water basins and drainage midway up hillsides to carry runoff away. Rye grows vigorously along the roadside in Tama and Renton counties, likely sown as a catch crop for cover crops, creating a notable roadside green patch.
