Marzo Memorial Exercises honored Civil War veterans with prayers by P. F. Travis and a commemorative address. Music accompanied the event as veterans received words of慰藉. The next day decorations continued with schoolchildren, G. A. R., and W. R. parade to graves for the usual ritual and reflections.
On Tuesday evening at St Ma Academy the high school hosted a seniors party. An 8 by 10 luncheon was served in the dining room, decorated in class colors with ferns and cut flowers. The group moved to the hall for music, dancing, and games. Each senior received a souvenir apron.
Eighty Milwaukee business men arrive by special train at 10:40 A M on Monday June 6 to be hosted by Rock Valley authorities. The visit includes a depot greet led by the mayor and locals, a short town tour, a reception at City Hall, and displays of regional shipments and products. Citizens are urged to be present at arrival and at local businesses to showcase Rock Valley.
The gnnagl mesting of the stock holders of the Farmers Mutual Incorporated Co operative Society will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 1810, at 2 p m in Gerla's hall, Rock Watter, Ind. All share holders are requested to attend. Hans Moeller, Pres. G. F. Hilmer, Myr.
A Friday evening meeting in Wu coun el room gathered Rock Valley citizens to discuss the new railroad project and confer with committees from Hawarden Doon and Lavergne. W.C Leonard chaired the meeting with Ted Handy and Iman named as finance committee. Committees planned to send representatives to Chicago headquarters. further coverage promised next week.
Joseph Drey of Rock Valley and Breckenridge Minnesota was killed last week while operating a pile driver near Wahpeton North Dakota. His clothing caught in the wheel, he was whirled and crushed to death within moments. He leaves a wife and family. He was a brother of George Drey who left the area about two years ago.
