Ardess Day 11 Dies After Illness In Center Township
Ardess Day oldest daughter of Delbert and Mrs Day of Center Township died at age 10. She was born July 29 1916 on a farm in Center Township and would have turned eleven on Friday. She suffered scarlet fever complications after Christmas and gradually declined until death at 11 30 Wednesday night. A sixth grade pupil at Center Township No 9 Iurei School she was beloved by classmates. Survived by parents and four younger siblings Carol Berdell Wanda and two grandparents. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon Rev M Smith in charge with burial in Ireton Cemetery.

Dairy judging teams clash in international contest
Mrs. Wm. Miller and Mrs. Henry Geade visited Sioux City Sunday. The Clayton county junior dairy cattle team, champion of the United States last fall, lost July 14 for the top international honor to the English team. The Towa team was defeated by 12 points, marking a second U S appearance in the International contest in England.
