The Sheldon Sun reports several area farms changing hands. Reimersma sells a quarter section eight miles northeast of Sheldon to Al Hoff near Hospers for 190 per acre. DeBoer farm 80 acres east of Hospers sells to L Boersma for 250 per acre. Oldenkamp 80 acres southwest of Sheldon sells to Bert Sarsma for 237.50 per acre. Buyers expect to move in next spring as real estate prices rebound from two years ago.

E S Thayer Dies After Hospital Stay In Rock Valley
E S Thayer died last Thursday after an appendectomy in Hull. Born May 25 1856 in Batavia Michigan he lived in Sioux County since 1885. He served as Sioux County treasurer mayor of Rock Valley and on the council and school board. He leaves wife Jessie four children and siblings Wilton Thayer and Verna Work. Funeral services were at his Rock Valley home with Rev L Shroyer and were well attended.

Suicide Declared By Belio t Man Peter Carstens
Peter Carstens of Belio t was found last week Thursday hanging from a rafter in the rear of his home. He climbed up placed a rope around his neck and stepped off. He was about sixty years old and health appeared good. No reason for the act is known and finances are not believed to be involved.

Horse Killed by Fright in Hawarden Circus Parade
A horse owned by G. J. Shoemaker of Hawarden dropped dead from fright as Gollmar Bros. circus elephants passed during a Hawarden parade. The horse, hitched to a buggy, was greatly frightened and died likely from heart failure caused by the shock. Circus men note such incidents are common.

Tragedy at Dan Keegan Farm Well Follows Gas Dangers
Peter Schmitt died while boring a deep well on the Dan Keegan farm near LeMars. He descended to about seventy feet below before his rope slackened and he could not be raised. A lantern was extinguished by foul air and a chicken lowered as a test also suffocated, proving gas in the well. Balualtt Rae, 29, last Feb.

Thieves Fail To Blow Open Orange City Oil Safe
Two men attempted to blast open the Standard Oil safe in Orange City last Sunday night. They entered by forcing a window lock, fired at the night watchman as he fled to the sheriff, and then fled the scene after the sheriff and watchman returned. The safe held about $150.

J A Tracy state fire marshal blames business recession for a surge in incendiary fires over six months. He reports monthly state fire losses of about one million dollars and notes fires occur in homes and business blocks.
