Valley State Bank of the Des Moines area was the low bidder for 185000 in general obligation bonds at 5.07492 percent with a total interest cost of 86262.50 to fund street projects and storm sewer work.
The U S Postal Service will introduce two motorized Jeep dispatchers for city mail routes in Rock Valley this month. Local carriers Francis Klein Henry Bakker and Leroy Koedam will handle parcel post and regular mail in a single delivery. The move aims to boost efficiency and will roll out in nearby communities as well.
Local observer Larry Van Berkum reports only .88 inch of rain fell in June compared with a 4.2 inch normal. June 1976 was a turnabout from 1975 when 6.35 inches fell. Year to date moisture totals 6.98 inches versus 13.81 inches by mid year 1975.
Eighteen Rock Valley residents appeared in magistrate court during June. For the July 1 1975 to July 1 1976 period fines totaled 94026 62 dollars.
