SOLO Gets 25 744 Grant To Administer Poverty Program
Gov Hughes announced the SOLG Office of Economic Opportunity in Rock Rapids has received a federal grant of 25 744 for running the poverty program in four northwest counties for ten months. The 16 month grant will provide leadership and development of community action programs while an earlier 335 917 grant supports an area survey and six months of work. Director Groom said existing funds extend the program by two months, allowing a year of operation and freeing other funds to further poverty relief efforts.

Terpstra Couple Observe 50th Anniversary in Rock Valley
Jake and Mrs Terpstra will celebrate 50 years of marriage with an open house Friday February 3 at 7 30 PM in the basement of the First Christian Reformed Church Rock Valley. They wed February 1 1917 in Lucas Michigan and farmed in Iowa and Michigan and Washington before settling in Rock Valley. They have nine children and 28 grandchildren and are long time church members. A short program and lunch will follow the evening reception.

George Grapplers Top Rockets Again
The George Bluejay wrestling team beat the Rockets 30 to 18 at George gym on Saturday Jan. 21. John Vande Weerde and Larry Landegent gave a 10 to 0 Rocket start. Buckley and Tom Gayer, plus Plueger Loverink and Bauder, turned the tide for George as they won several decisions to pull ahead 17 to 10. Don Vanden Berg pinned, Dean Lande gent and Tichmer pinned, sealing a 30 to 18 victory for George.
