Minor Damages in 2 Car Crash Near Main Street
Police report two car collision last Wednesday at Main and 1st streets. John Dirksen’s Olde 964 suffered $98 damage after being rear ended by Gary Van de Kamp in a 1939 Chevrolet Van de Kamp’s vehicle sustained $145 damage with no injuries and no summons due to street conditions.

Two Killed In Crash On 75 Near Perkins Corner
Two Lincoln men died Saturday when their car veered across the center line on U S 75 near Perkins Corner and struck a bridge abatement. James D. Gabelhouse, 23, was the driver and Thomas K. Johnston, 22, a Plaissman Bookstore salesman, were both Vietnam veterans. Officers Paul Biedertran and Gordon Abels investigated. Gabelhouse survived by wife Jennifer and son Eric, along with his and his parents. Johnston’s survivors include his parents Mr. and Mrs. Martin E. Burgess, a brother, William, sisters Nancy Johnston and Janice Burges, and Leuta Johnston of San Fernando California.

Quarterly Meeting of the Sioux County American Cancer Society
The Sioux County chapter held its first quarterly meeting at the Dutch Mill Inn in Grange City on January 11. Missada Verstoeg reported on the Iowa Division State Convention in Des Moines November 15 and 16, and a plaque was received for notable assistance in the Crusade to Conquerancer s during 1970. The chapter raised more money than in 1969 and approved purchasing another wheelchair for county medical patients. Bernice Bergsma was designated to make the purchase. An upcoming County Cancer Crusade is planned for April, and a volunteer worker meeting will be held at the Biltmore Motel in Sioux City on February 3. Call Willa Reininger for transportation needs.
